Biodegradable plastic bags are manufactured to accelerate the decomposition of the product to the point where it is mineralised into its basic component elements of water, carbon dioxide and biomass (inert mineral compounds). The Premiere Biodegradable bags are produced from Petrochemical based polymers with additives to aid breakdown by light, water and mechanical stress. The bag composition means that this process only takes place long after the product has been disposed of. These bags retain standard bag strength. They are suitable for food use, but do not adversely affect landfill.
